Welcome to Preschool Canada Pickering. The Pickering site is fun and safe environment for young children in the community of not just Pickering but Durham Region, with a license capacity of 109 children. We pride ourselves on our warm, welcoming, nurturing, family like environment. We have created our own community within our center and we work together to support one and other. We welcome diversity and embrace differences. While we maintain professionalism and our duty to uphold policies and procedures, we also do what we can to make each individual child feel they are special, welcomed and uniquely valued.
We strive to prepare our children to enter kindergarten feeling confident and ready to learn. We focus on each child’s small and large successes. The children participate in learning engagements throughout the day, they enjoy outdoor play, they learn critical independence skills and we always squeeze in time for a warm hug from one of our warm and friendly educators. When children leave the comfortable arms of their families for the first time to come to childcare, we want them to feel just as at home with us as they do with their families. When you walk into the center, you see the smiling faces, and you can feel the love the children have of learning.
Director of Eh to Zed Preschool Canada Pickering
My name is Lorraine Hutchison, Director of Eh to Zed Preschool Canada Pickering. I have been in the field of Childcare for over 25 years. My experiences as a Professional Educator and mom have led me to working with Eh to Zed Preschool Canada Pickering. After graduating from Centennial College with my diploma in ECE I began working with Preschoolers. It was here I fell in love with teaching children to learn and be excited about learning. I moved to Vancouver for 5 years while there I continued to educate myself in the field of Early Childhood Education. Upon moving back to the Durham Region (where I grew up) I joined a company that I worked with for 18 years before accepting the position of director with Preschool Canada. I have many years of experience working with early learning partners, such as: Ministry of Education, Resource Consultants, Inclusion Support Workers, and Municipal public health units.
In my role as Director for Eh to Zed Preschool Canada, I act as a support for staff, parents, children and community partners. Maintaining all compliances as set out in the Ontario Early Years Act. Licensed childcare comes with many regulations that need to be followed is extremely important in my role as director. I will work alongside educators and families to help solve issues to improve quality of care and ensure your child’s safety and well-being is first and foremost.
I am a loving wife and mother to 2 teenage boys who are actively involved in sports and school. When looking for childcare for them, when they were younger I knew firsthand the importance of a happy and safe environment. We hope you have found that with us!
